Pattern Review: 5 out of 4 Fabric Watchband

Writer: AmeliaAmelia

My birthday was a few days ago, so I made myself a present.

Surprise! I love it.

I'm not sure how I feel about the scrunchie look coming back, but I do love my new watchband. It is comfortable, fits perfectly, and I just happened to have a little scrap of fabric of these adorable little Brunis that was the perfect size to make it.

The pattern itself is a FREE pattern on the 5 out of 4 website (which I ALSO love). This is the first time I've made a 5 out of 4 pattern, and I really like it! The directions were easy to follow (it helped the designer had an Apple Watch, like me, although the instructions are easy enough to follow for any type of watch, as long as you can get the hardware). There were lots of pictures, which I very much appreciate when I am trying something new.

The only part I really had a problem with was at the end, when attaching the fabric to the hardware. There's a lot of layers at this point, with the fabric and elastic, and it was pretty tricky to get close to the bar of the hardware. So I switched to my zipper foot (which does surprisingly well with lots of layers), and then it went fine. So, this was not a recommendation in the pattern, but I do recommend using a zipper foot at the end.

Overall, I highly recommend this pattern! I plan on making a few, because it is a great way to use up scraps and make a watchband to match every outfit.

If you'd like your own copy, it is available here (I am NOT an affiliate for 5 out of 4 patterns, I just really like this pattern!).

Have you ever made your own watchband? How did it go?
